About the event

Come and find out about what the archaeologists have found this year under the grass of Grosvenor Park during the annual excavation.

Today only, Digital on Tour will also be offering a further insight into the excavations.  Put on a virtual reality headset and `visit` the excavation and `handle` items found.  Also today only, meet the Finds Liaison Officer for Cheshire, Greater Manchester & Merseyside and find out about the work of the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

Excavations have been taking place since 2007 and each year adds new information about the development of this area of the city since Roman times, the people who lived and worked here and the events that have shaped our life today. There will be a display of finds from the excavation and you will be able to find out what happens each year after the trench has been filled in, what objects have been found and what they tell us about life in the past.

Drop into this free event taking place from Tuesday 25 - Friday 28 June.

The Grosvenor Park student archaeological training excavation is a partnership project between West Cheshire Museums and the University of Chester and takes place annually in May.
