About the event
English Heritage are celebrating the 2024 September Heritage Open Days by offering exclusive themed guided tours of Chester Castle. Learn more about the1000 year history of this fascinating site and the people who inhabited the castle . You will get to explore the Agricola Tower, its Medieval Chapel and wall paintings. Tours last approx 1.5 hours and all are welcome. Please be aware the Agricola Tower has a spiral staircase. Dogs welcome on leads. The tours are suitable for ages 12 and above The Jacobite themed guided tours are as follows: Jacobites at Chester Castle tours on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 September - 11:00 and 13:30.
Tours have limited numbers so booking is essential via eventbrite.

Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before your tour is due to start. Entrance to the castle is via the County Court Car Park. You can park for a charge in the County Court Car Park or Little Roodee Car Park.
English Heritage are also opening Chester Castle for a Civil War event on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September from 10am- 3pm. Please Drop in and visit.
