About the event

Meet at King Charles (Phoenix) Tower on the north-east corner of Chester City Walls for a talk and guided walk of the key sites of the Siege of Chester 1645-46, including access to the King Charles Tower, the breaches and the castle. The talk will include an explanation of the Battle of Rowton Heath, the great assault and long siege, as well as the strategic consequences. The talk and walk will be led by Bob Burgess and Charles Cordell.

Please note this two-hour event, which finishes at Chester Cross and includes steep steps.  It is organised by the Battlefields Trust and is not part of the festival’s programme of pre-booked walks.

The event is free for Battlefield Trust members. Non-members will be asked to make a small donation to support the work of the Battlefields Trust in protecting and promoting understanding of Britain’s battlefield heritage.
