St. Michael's church will be offering the opportunity to try out bell ringing under supervision. Tower Tours will be available. There will be four drop in guided walks of Shotwick village throughout the day.

About the event
An active Grade I listed parish church dating from the 12th Century. Notable features include a carved Norman doorway, medieval arrow sharpening grooves, 17th/18th century furnishings - churchwardens' pew, box pews, three-decker pulpit.
Self guided tour sheets will be available for adults and children.
Demonstrations of bell ringing. Handbells available for use with instruction.
Tower tours to the roof of the tower for views around the surrounding countryside - sensible shoes and clothing essential. Tower Tours: 1020, 1140, 1320, 1440. Numbers limited to eight at a time.
Four guided walks of the village of Shotwick, an ancient settlement recorded in the Domesday book taking place at 1100, 1220, 1400 and 1520.
No booking required please meet at the church for the village walks.
A small display about the stained glass artist Trena Cox (1895- 1980) who designed the altar window. An exhibition of her life and work will take place in Chester Cathedral in October.
Access: Ramp for wheelchair access. The paths to the church and to the toilet are well made but up a slope. Assistance available if required.
