About the event

The Cestrian English project comprises two parts: Talking Chester, focusing on accent, dialect and identity in Chester, and Changing Chester, which focuses on written representations of Chester over time.

This is a bookable event via Storyhouse - Book here.

The project involves capturing spoken and written considerations of Cestrian identity, from the input of former and current Chester residents and in the wealth of writings about Chester from locals and visitors over hundreds of years.

This event showcases work from both sides of the project and after the talks there will be the opportunity to meet the project team for anyone who would like to know more or to be involved with the project in the future.

The talks are part of the 10th Northern Englishes Workshop hosted by the University of Chester at the Garret Theatre, Storyhouse, on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 June. Anyone interested in accent and dialect more generally may wish to book a place for the whole workshop.
